I've got the pleasure of having dark hair, and luscious locks. However, that also means I have body hair—all over 😂—which has always left me on a quest to find the best hair removal method.
Hirsutism is a side effect of PCOS and hormone imbalances, but it can also be hereditary. Certain ethnicities are more prone to facial hair and body hair. I've always had to manage my facial and body hair since I was younger. Deplanning, bleaching, threading, waxing, you name it. But it wasn't until the past few years that the normal methods began to feel insufficient.
I finally invested in laser hair removal. I found a place called SEV laser who had fairly priced packages and I opted to get full-body laser removal. Their "full-body" allowed you to do as much as possible in the 30-min session.
I focused my underarms, brazilian, side burns, back, and upper lip. I went for the full Kardashian. I did 6 sessions, and while I had decent results, I didn't have the money or time to continue going until the hair was totally gone.
I found my hair growth diminished and I had to shave less. My bikini line no longer suffered that embarrassing razor burn, and my armpits no longer had that weird 5 o'clock shadow #IYKYK.
However this summer, I realized the results had faded and I needed a new solution. After seeing tons of TikTok and IG ads for Nood, an at-home laser removal, I pulled the trigger.
The Flasher 2.0 promised visible results in just 3 weeks, pain-free & effective PrecisionPulse™ IPL, and quick 10-minute treatments to permanently remove hair.
When it arrived, I opened it with no expectations but was pleasantly surprised. It was easy to use, came with various levels of intensity, and even had this "continuous mode" that allowed the laser to automatically trigger without pushing the button. I gave it a go and it was less painful than the professional laser treatment I'd had before. They recommend you shave the area first, and then run the laser over the area 3 times. Then repeat 2x a week for 8 weeks.
I'll admit the first 2 weeks I adhered to the schedule. Giving myself "an everything" hair removal focusing on: dermaplaning my face and shaving my bikini line, happy trail and arm pits. I didn't even bother trying for my back because I couldn't reach. (In case you're wondering, Nood isn't intended for brazilian hair removal, so I didn't ever get close to the labia, just focused on the pubic bone area and never went near the lips).
By week 4, I had lost discipline and began doing it as I remembered. Even then, I'm surprised at my results! My bikini line is where I noticed the most improvement. Razor burn was gone because the hair growth was thinner, and I noticed no ingrown hairs. I also noticed a minimal improvement—but still an improvement—in facial hair particular around my chin and side burns.
For the $179 dollars I paid, I'd have to give the Nood a big thumbs up! It's cost effective, pretty immediate results, and easy to use.
The only downsides: you can't do it yourself on hard to reach areas, you have to remember to do it, and it takes roughly 8 weeks to see the full results.
As of a now, I'd have to say that laser hair removal is the best method for hair removal whether it's in-office or at home using a device like Nood.
