Will it be Cleverly or Badenoch? |
James Cleverly was the big gainer in the third ballot of Conservative MPs in the Tory leadership election: James Cleverly 39 +18 Robert Jenrick 31 -2 Kemi Badenoch 30 +2 Tom Tugendhat 20 -1 The question for the fourth and final MPs' ballot tomorrow is which of Jenrick and Badenoch gets to face Cleverly in the members' vote. The Conservative Home survey of Tory members taken after the party conference and Cleverly's well-received speech suggested Cleverly would beat Jenrick, but would lose to Badenoch. So it looks as if this race is shaping up to be a choice between Cleverly and Badenoch, and that Jenrick's chances are small, regardless of how MPs vote tomorrow. |
