For months, I was getting unconfirmed tips that the "computer network disruption" at Mount Baker Imaging was actually a ransomware cyberattack.

However, the medical company only provided a vague, cookie-cutter description of what happened, leaning heavily on the idea that they were still looking into the matter.

Because I'm not in the business of reporting rumors and no credible sources stepped forward to be on the record, it felt like my hands were tied on getting the truth out to the public. Leadership at Mt. Baker Imaging assured me that they would keep me informed.

Fast forward to the end of April when I learned that a class action lawsuit had been filed against the company connected to the cyberattack, which allegedly resulted in the theft of a "treasure trove" of personal data due to "negligence and inadequate" security measures.

It's clear that many people in our community were kept in the dark for far too long about the true nature of the incident.
