Cummings declares Kemi Badenoch a 'goner' |
Dominic Cummings has added to the drumbeat of doom-laden warnings about Kemi Badenoch's future as Tory leader, telling Sky News she is a "goner". Boris Johnson's former chief of staff said, as The Independent has reported, that Conservative MPs are already plotting to get rid of her after just six months on the job.
It should not come as a surprise. From an already low base she has managed to drive the party's poll rating lower - even being overtaken by the Liberal Democrats in one YouGov poll. Some thought she would be safe until another set of what are likely to be dire local election results next year. Mr Cummings thinks that is unlikely, adding: "Kemi is going to go, probably this year."
