Venture capitalists can't stop betting on startups that are developing artificial intelligence to automate customer support, including those that are on pace to generate more than $100 million in revenue annually.

In the latest examples, Intercom, a customer support software startup founded in 2011, is in talks to sell more than $100 million in shares to investors at a price that values the company at $2 billion or higher, according to a person who spoke with company leaders.
