Kaya was a rescue that my husband brought home one evening. Her beautiful eyes and happy demeanor won him over, but I wasn't so easy to please. When I saw the scrappy, black-and-brown dog, I made some demands: First, the dog needed to have a bath, and second, she had better not sleep on our couch.
