Today's Checklist:

  • 4 quick ways to declutter your digital inbox and folders

  • Ask for the promotion without doubting yourself

  • The power of "leading in the gray"

🤔 Riddle me this: I'm watched in a square by people worldwide, dropping so slowly with nowhere to hide? (Find the answer on the bottom).

Digital Decluttering: Unsubscribe, Clean Your Inbox, and Organize Your Digital Life

If your inbox stresses you out, your desktop looks like a junk drawer, and your screenshots are out of control, this is your sign to clean it up.

Digital clutter drains focus and energy just like physical clutter. The good news? You don't need a full weekend or a complicated system. A few smart moves will get you most of the way there.

1) Unsubscribe in bulk (the fast way)

Stop manually unsubscribing one email at a time.

Use a bulk unsubscribe tool instead:

  • Unroll.Me
Scans your inbox, shows every mailing list you're on, and lets you unsubscribe with one click. You can also bundle newsletters into a single daily digest.

  • Clean Email
Groups emails by sender or topic so you can mass delete or unsubscribe quickly.

Quick hack if you don't want a tool:

Search your inbox for "unsubscribe" and start deleting in batches.

2) Clean up your inbox with filters and labels

Once you unsubscribe, set up your inbox so it stays manageable.

Use filters to:

  • Automatically label newsletters

  • Route receipts and confirmations out of your main inbox

  • Skip the inbox entirely for low-priority emails

3) Organize your files so you can actually find things

If your Downloads folder is overwhelming, start there.

A simple folder structure:

  • Work

  • Personal

  • Finances

  • Creative

  • Archive

Name files clearly and include dates:

  • 2025_Contract_ClientName

  • Tax_Forms_2024

Mac users can use Finder tags to color-code files by category.

Google Drive users can use priority workspaces to help keep active projects visible.

4) Delete and sort your screenshots

Most screenshots are temporary reminders, not keepsakes. Use helpful tools like Gemini Photos (iOS) for bulk cleanup, and use Google Photos because it'll group screenshots automatically.

Then do a quick sweep:

  • Delete duplicates

  • Keep only what you still need

  • Move important items into a "Reference" folder

New rule: if you screenshot it, either use it or delete it within 48 hours.

Taking the time to do this is one of the simplest ways to give yourself mental breathing room. Digital clutter quietly drains your focus all day long, and you don't always notice how much until it's gone.

An hour now can save you countless micro-moments of stress later, helping you start your days clearer, work more efficiently, and feel less overwhelmed by default.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Two people work around an oversized calendar and clock, one sitting with a laptop and the other reviewing notes as checkmarks and reminders fill the schedule. Sits against a teal background with floating icons and plants.

Our Not-So-Secret Weapon for Task Management

We've tried a lot of project tools, but monday.com is the one we keep coming back to.

It's flexible, visual, and built for the way real teams actually work; not some idealized version of productivity. Every brainstorm, draft, and deadline flows through monday.com, so no one's guessing what's next (or who's doing it).

From daily to-dos to sponsor timelines and OKRs, we use automations to keep things moving and boards to stay aligned—without Slack sleuthing or surprise bottlenecks.

It's why we're getting more done with less friction, and why "wait, is this mine?" rarely comes up anymore.

👉 We even built a starter guide based on our real setup. Boards, workflows, automations, all of it. Use it, tweak it, make it yours.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE

Two people face each other in conversation, gesturing as icons above them show growth charts, money symbols, and business ideas being exchanged. They stand against a soft, abstract pastel background.

Stop Second-Guessing Yourself. Start Making the Ask.

My biggest challenge is how to negotiate and actually get promotions without second-guessing my worth." — Kelly

You know you deserve the promotion. You've done the work, exceeded expectations, and proven yourself over and over. But when it comes time to actually ask for it, the doubt creeps in.

Am I asking for too much? What if they say no? What if I'm not actually ready?

You already know you can do the work. The scary part is asking for what you want and not knowing how it'll land. Still, not asking quietly answers the question for you.

Here's how to walk into that conversation with evidence, clarity, and confidence instead of spiraling into self-doubt.

Build your case before you ask

You can't walk into a promotion conversation with vibes and hope. You need evidence.

Start documenting your wins now. Keep a running list of:

  • Projects you've led or significantly contributed to

  • Measurable results you've delivered (revenue generated, problems solved, processes improved)

  • Responsibilities you've taken on beyond your job description

  • Positive feedback from colleagues, clients, or leadership

When it's time to have the conversation, you're not guessing at your worth. You're presenting data.

Know what the promotion actually requires

Before you ask, understand what the next level looks like at your company. What skills, responsibilities, and outcomes define success at that level?

If you're already doing that work, say that explicitly: "I'm already leading cross-functional projects and managing client relationships, which are responsibilities of a Senior Manager. I'd like to formalize that with the title and compensation."

If you're not quite there yet, ask what's missing: "What do I need to demonstrate to be considered for a promotion to [role]?" Then create a plan to close the gap and set a timeline to revisit the conversation.

Separate your worth from the outcome

This is the part that matters most. You are not your job title. Your worth is not determined by whether your boss says yes.

Sometimes the answer is no because of budget, timing, or politics that have nothing to do with your performance. And sometimes the answer is no because your company doesn't value you the way they should—and that's information you need.

But asking for the promotion and hearing "not yet" doesn't mean you're not worthy. It means you need more information about what it will take or whether this is the right place for you to grow.

Practice asking out loud

The reason negotiation feels so scary is because most people never practice it. They rehearse in their head, spiral into worst-case scenarios, and then walk into the conversation already defeated.

Practice with a friend, a mentor, or even in front of a mirror. Say the words out loud: "I'd like to discuss a promotion to [role]." "Based on my performance, I believe I've earned this opportunity." "I'm ready for this next step."

The more you say it, the less scary it becomes.

Don't apologize for asking

You don't need to say "I'm sorry to bring this up" or "I know this might not be the right time, but..."

You're not asking for a favor. You're asking for recognition of the value you've already delivered.

Start with: "I'd like to discuss my career progression and a promotion to [role]." Then present your case. Clear, direct, confident.

Have a backup plan

Before you walk into the conversation, know what you'll do if the answer is no.

Will you ask for a specific timeline and milestones for when you can revisit? Will you negotiate for a raise or additional responsibilities instead? Will you start looking externally?

Having a plan takes the desperation out of the conversation. You're not begging. You're negotiating. And if this company won't give you what you deserve, another one will.

Remember: Companies lose institutional knowledge, client relationships, and momentum when good people leave. Replacing you is expensive and disruptive.

You have more leverage than you think, especially if you're already doing excellent work.

Build your case, practice your ask, and go get what you've earned. You've got this!

Leaning Into the Unknown

"Leading in the gray isn't comfortable, but it's where your team learns to trust you the most. There are moments when the "right" answer isn't clear, and the best decision still comes with trade-offs. Leading people or building culture is messy sometimes. But it's also where the real growth happens, when you can guide your team out of uncertainty and into clarity, alignment, and execution."
