As a hospital system operating across three states, PeaceHealth's recruiting team of 55 hires more than 2,500 employees a year, according to data the hospital provided to Washington state in 2023.

So, it's not necessarily news when Whatcom County's lone hospital has job openings. 

Health care can be a grueling industry to work in and often causes burnout, so turnover in and of itself isn't always "news."

However, when the hospital lists four job postings for a specialty clinic shortly after many patients reached out to CDN asking what happened to their providers who were abruptly, at once, no longer with that clinic, some questions arise.

My latest story looks into why dermatology patients, whose appointments were suddenly cancelled, were told by PeaceHealth to visit the clinic in person to collect their medical records. They were not given a referral to a new dermatologist or given a reason for the change.
