Mooresville police say a 27-year-old man intentionally set fire to a vehicle on July 24 with an occupant inside, who managed to escape without serious injury. Officers identified Clayton Morrison Broyhill of Mooresville as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
After refusing to come out initially, Broyhill surrendered to a Crisis Negotiation Team at a home in Mooresville on July 28. He now faces multiple charges, including assault with intent to kill, burning personal property, communicating threats, domestic violence and possession of a firearm by a felon. No motive has been released.
