Trump's shock cabinet pick

US President-elect Donald Trump said he has picked Pete Hegseth, a Fox News commentator and veteran, as his secretary of defense.

Hegseth is a NATO-skeptic who has expressed disdain for the so-called "woke" policies of Pentagon leaders and says he opposes women in combat roles. He is perhaps Trump's most surprising pick as he fills out his cabinet.

The 44-year-old will be in charge of 1.3 million active-duty service members and the nearly 1 million civilians who work for the military.
