| Nov 07, 2024 | | As the next president, Donald Trump will make his mark on several key issues for tech, from China trade to taxes to artificial intelligence. While much is uncertain, he is likely to promptly repeal the artificial intelligence executive order Biden signed last year. And he could also speed up construction of data centers by loosening regulations on electricity plant construction, said a policy expert. "You can invoke emergency powers and waive a lot of environmental regulations to allow people to build new nuclear and other electrical generation capacity in order to power the big data centers that folks want for these advanced AI models," said Gregory Allen, who is the director of the Wadhwani AI Center at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and previously worked on AI at the Department of Defense under Trump and Biden, on a call with subscribers hosted by The Information Wednesday. Plus, "It's very clear to me that repealing the AI executive order is going to happen pretty early in the Trump Administration." | By Rocket Drew | | | | | | | |
