Vaune Trachtman

"The people in these images come from archival negatives my father shot in Depression-era Philadelphia, which I combined with my photos. I'm interested in creating a sense of collapsed-yet-expanded time in this work," according to the artist.

Prints are hand-pulled photopolymer gravures. Trachtman continues, "I love that this process requires physical effort - the rubbing of plates, the turning of the press wheel - and that working with paper, ink, and my 1960s intaglio press is tactile and connected to history."

Trachtman is a photographer and printmaker who works in historic processes without using toxic chemicals.
