The National Institute of Standards and Technology published an updated federal industry standardization handbook to add new cannabis guidelines on allowable moisture loss—provisions meant to ensure that consumers aren't sold packages containing less product than advertised.
Virginia Democratic House and Senate lawmakers refiled marijuana sales legalization legislation even as the office of Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) is signaling he would issue another veto if the reform reaches his desk again this year.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) touted his work to legalize medical cannabis in his State of the Commonwealth speech, saying that patients who "live every day in pain or in misery" will be able to access legal marijuana "this year."
A New York Democratic assemblymember introduced legislation to make it illegal to smoke or vape marijuana "within thirty feet of a child or within thirty feet of any location in which children reside or attend for any recreational or educational purpose" and to limit cannabis THC product potency.
DoorDash is expanding its offerings in select states to include delivery of hemp-derived THC and CBD products, including gummies and beverages—which the company says will help customers "unwind and recharge in the new year."
The Marijuana Policy Project published an analysis of government data that it says shows "decreases in youth cannabis use since states began legalizing and regulating cannabis for adults 21 and older."

The Rhode Island Cannabis Control Commission voted to propose new rules for the state's legal marijuana market—including on issues like packaging and labeling, quality assurance testing and licensing criteria for social equity businesses and worker-owned cooperatives.
