In a divided America, few cultural icons hold universal appeal — but somehow, everybody seems to love Dolly Parton. The larger-than-life country star is perpetually relevant, inspiring everything from a WNYC podcast to a Beyoncé album.

On a local level, Dolly's extensive catalogue inspired the show "Seattle Men's Chorus Salutes Dolly!" performed by one of the country's most prominent LGBTQ+ choruses.

Tickets are still available for their Sunday performance at Mount Baker Theatre; cowboy hats and rhinestones are highly encouraged.

Other notable weekend events include a Sunday plant swap at Gruff Brewing and the second weekend of "Play On!", Bellingham Theatre Guild's spring production. Music lovers should also know that tomorrow is Record Store Day at Black Noise Records.

"To Whom It May Concern" — a monthly show where folks read real-life letters onstage — is also back at New Prospect Theatre this Sunday.

This month's readers include Rae Atticus Larson, Janet Higbee-Robinson, and none other than George Dyson.

In Skagit County, indie darlings Kuinka are having a 10-year anniversary show at the Lincoln Theatre, whereas the 31st annual Spring Garage Sale is happening at the Skagit County Fairgrounds.
