While folks can depend on national, state, or even regional newsrooms for state and gubernatorial elections, in many communities, it's up to voters to educate themselves on local elections and issues.

Local elections and local journalism go hand-in-hand. The 2025 election is hyperlocal.

As CDN Executive Editor Ron Judd says, "it's all about nuts and bolts," and CDN is dedicated to keeping the electorate informed and energized.

From county and city councils, to local initiatives and school boards, I haven't seen this type of community engagement in local races in a long time. It's encouraging!

Here is a list of things CDN has done/is doing ahead of the general election:

Offering free election coverage on our website.
Opening the Citizens Agenda ballot, where you can vote for the top five questions you want us to ask candidates this election cycle. Votes are due on Aug. 29.
Hosting election forums (more on that in a few weeks!)
Publishing a free voter guide that comes your way in October.
