I was married for 28 years. We could not have children. She died when I was 49. I remarried someone younger and became a first time father at 52 and a second time father at 54. Those children are now young adults, and seem to live contented and fulfilled lives (still in full time education). I'm 71 and still fit, active and healthy. I also have three older stepsons who have a better relationship with me than they do with their biological father. I did not want to come to fatherhood the way I did, but I have no regrets and my life is more fulfilled as a result. |
