I've spent the past few weeks designing stage layouts and putting up signs around Whatcom County for Cascadia Daily News' upcoming Election Town Hall Series, panel discussions with local candidates ahead of November's election.

I see my role as CDN's new Events Coordinator as a more responsive form of journalism.

As a member of the audience, you're witnessing a news story play out live in front of you. But you have a chance to be the reporter yourself, by directing your questions.

We're so lucky to have live events — they're an arena to act out the type of community-driven journalism that I've dreamed about doing, something that not every newsroom has the resources and bandwidth to do.
