| | Labour addresses elephant in the room
| Labour has been so desperate for so long not to be accused of a "Brexit betrayal" that it has almost completely ignored the elephant in the room. Leaving the European Union was one of the most damaging acts of self-sabotage in British history, and it is inextricably linked to the troubles we face as a country today. Sluggish growth, persistent inflation and a spiralling tax burden... Brexit has had its part to play. But Labour is only just gearing up to go after the culprits, with Wes Streeting saying "I'm glad that Brexit is a problem whose name we now dare speak" and Sir Keir Starmer lining up to link Brexit to the small boats crisis. The likes of Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and David Cameron should have spent the last decade explaining to us all why Brexit was such a brilliant idea. Instead, they have been let off scot-free. Hopefully that is about to change. | |
