Some say they are bad luck and some say they are witches in disguise. Never has an old wives' tale been so disproven as in the case of Jinx and the love she showed our family. October is the time for jack-o'-lanterns and witches on broomsticks. It was also a lucky month for a small, shy black cat. I was looking at a local shelter for a companion cat for my other fur baby, Onyx. I walked up and down the rows of kittens and cats, all of them purring or mewing to get my attention. All except for one were jumping at the chance to get a new home. The name tag on the reticent one's cage said "Angel." It also stated that this was her last day. Halloween was coming soon and the shelter would stop adoptions of all black cats. By the time the hold on the black female was to be released, her fate would be sealed. A stroke of bad luck turned into good because I could not turn away from her. (Keep reading) |
