When I go hiking, there are two things I like: a nice workout and a rewarding view. Pine and Cedar Lakes offers both.

Commonly referred to as the "Bellingham Stair Master," I questioned the nickname ahead of my first excursion. Such a description has to be in the eyes of the beholder right? Wrong. The stair master is an apt description. 

Both times I've done the hike, I've questioned my sanity during the first 10 minutes on trail. But once you get to the lakes, which acts as a great snack break, you feel like you've accomplished something. Keep an eye out for owls. I spooked one (he spooked me too) in September.
