County terminates health department staffer accused of domestic violence

Right now, if someone wants to take a cruise from Bellingham, they have few choices. There's the Alaska Marine Highway ferry, which isn't exactly a Holland America cruise, as well as day cruises from San Juan Cruises and the Schooner Zodiac.

But port commissioners are mulling a feasibility study that would examine what kind of infrastructure improvements and market

demands there are for small to mid-sized cruise terminal operators out of the Fairhaven Cruise Terminal.
Part of that study is to look at making Bellingham and Fairhaven a home port, meaning cruise vessels would depart from and return to the cruise terminal. There's a bevy of economic benefits: from stocking the ships with local goods and repairing them with local labor, to encouraging tourists to fly into Bellingham International Airport and spending their money at local businesses.
