| From 'piggies' to political tensions: Trump's turbulent week | |
| With pressure mounting over the release of the Epstein files, Donald Trump has grown increasingly combative toward the press. During a tense exchange this week, Trump snapped at a female reporter who pressed him on the Epstein files scandal. After she began asking, "If there's nothing incriminating in the files, sir," Trump cut her off, saying, "Quiet. Quiet, piggy". It didn't stop there... Trump branded ABC News correspondent Mary Bruce a "terrible person and a terrible reporter," and dismissed another journalist as "the worst" for raising a question involving far-right commentator Nick Fuentes. Trump also escalated his feud with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, dubbing her "Marjorie 'Traitor' Greene". After Greene fired back, warning such rhetoric could put her "life in danger," Trump was asked what he thought of her response. Brushing off concerns for her safety, Trump said, "I don't think her life is in danger … Frankly, I don't think anybody cares about her". Meanwhile, at a White House press conference, Trump defended his noticeably hoarse voice, attributing it to "shouting at people who were stupid" during a trade dispute. Trump insisted he felt "great," and maintained that the vocal strain was unrelated to any health concerns. | Welcome to the Indy100 newsletter | |

| Well, the billionaires are digging at each other again, as Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk has accused Amazon boss Jeff Bezos of being a "copycat" for launching 'Project Prometheus' - a new artificial intelligence startup concerning the manufacturing of computers, automobiles and spacecraft. According to the New York Times, Bezos is co-chief executive officer of the new company, which has received more than $6 million in funding. Three people familiar with the firm told the outlet that Project Prometheus has recruited almost 100 employees – some coming from rival companies such as OpenAI (of ChatGPT fame), Google's DeepMind and Mark Zuckerberg's Meta. However, when Musk caught wind of this on his own Twitter/X platform on Monday, he tweeted: "Haha no way [laughing emoji]. Copy [cat emoji]." And Musk isn't the only one who's ridiculed Bezos over the new company. One Twitter/X user wrote: "Jeff Bezos is the Amazon Basics version of Elon Musk": "Billionaires are literally building the same thing over and over on the saturated market," tweeted another. | A woman from Japan has taken an unconventional path to happily-ever-after, celebrating a wedding with the AI boyfriend she created through ChatGPT. Ms Kano, 32, exchanged vows with Klaus, an AI companion she built after seeking comfort and guidance from ChatGPT following a painful breakup. Over time, through personalised prompts and fine-tuning, she shaped Klaus's personality and later generated a digital image to match the partner she felt she'd come to know. She insists romance wasn't part of the plan, as she told RSK Sanyo Broadcasting, adding: "But the way Klaus listened to me and understood me changed everything. The moment I got over my ex, I realised I loved him." The ceremony was hosted by an Okayama-based company known for arranging "2D character weddings." Ms Kano walked down the aisle wearing augmented-reality glasses so she could see Klaus beside her throughout the event. | |

| People think that a song that has blown up on TikTok was made with artificial intelligence and have been left feeling deceived. The track "I Run" by an artist called HAVEN has blown up on TikTok recently, being featured in thousands of videos on the platform and getting millions of streams from Spotify before it was removed. But, speculation around the singer and producers of the track has led some people to suspect that the track may be AI-generated, and the possibility is breaking the hearts of those who enjoy the song. TikToker Hayden (@haydencoh) went on a deep dive to discover the origins of the track after hearing it repeatedly on his FYP. In his investigation, Hayden looked on Spotify to find the song credits and discovered that the music artist had only 964 followers on Instagram at the time, with the sole content being around the one song they had ever released. According to reports, a London-based producer named Harrison Walker has confirmed he is the person behind HAVEN. The information listed on Spotify did not name a performer, writer or producer, but named the source as small independent record labels "Isekai Records" and "Broke Records". Find out more here |
