| | | | | | | What to Wear to Every Holiday Party This Season |
|
| If you're anything like me, you love any excuse to be festive and get dressed up. But you also hate the art of shopping, get overwhelmed by all of the options, and then end up resorting to your favorite boring old outfit.
So, we've rounded up options for every holiday party on your calendar.
For Your Work Party
The vibe: Formal, covered, comfortable, and layered in case you get hot.
You need something professional enough for the office crew but festive enough to feel like a party. Go for a two-piece set: it's comfy, fashionable, and you can layer it with a light jacket, then add a scarf or coat if you're in colder weather. Plus, it's got pockets so you can be both functional and stylish. Or take an existing blazer and satin blouse and pair it with fun velvet pants in a bright color.
Budget: Green velvet pants from Cupshe—pair with a festive top you already own.
Splurge: Asymmetric velvet top from COS—sophisticated and office-appropriate. |
|
| | Family Party
The vibe: Festive, fun, cute.
You need to be comfy enough to bend over and pick up your kids or nephews and buzz in and out of the kitchen to check on food. But you also wanna look snatched and camera-ready. Enter the jumpsuit, aka your holiday hero. You can frolic around with ease but still look glowing in photos. Plus, there's a variety of styles out there to fit your shape and personality.
Budget: Burgundy velvet jumpsuit from Lulus—cross-front halter that's flattering and festive.
Splurge: Sequin long-sleeve jumpsuit from Nordstrom—full glam without sacrificing comfort. |
|
| | Dinner Party with Your Besties
The vibe: Sophisticated, sexy, glam.
This is where you get to be bold and trendy without worrying about being too much. Your friends want to see you shine, so go for something that makes you feel hot and confident. Think mini dresses, luxe fabrics, and statement silhouettes. This is your moment to wear the dress that makes you feel like the main character.
Budget: Velvet mini dress from Windsor—off-the-shoulder with satin ruffle details for maximum drama.
Splurge: Red mini dress from Revolve—Michael Costello x Revolve collaboration that screams statement piece. |
|
| | On a Holiday Date
The vibe: Sexy, fun, unforgettable.
Date night calls for something that's equal parts flirty and confident. You want to look effortlessly stunning—the kind of outfit that makes you feel amazing and looks even better across the dinner table. Go for rich colors, flattering cuts, and just the right amount of skin. This is your moment to dress for yourself and whoever's lucky enough to be across from you.
Budget: A fitted mini dress in a rich color—perfect for date night without breaking the bank.
Splurge: Scoop neck mini dress from Oh Polly—effortlessly chic in deep cocoa. |
|
| Built-In Tummy Control
The vibe: Confident, comfortable, no compromises.
If you're feeling a little self-conscious about your body but still want to be festive, these outfits have built-in shapewear so you can feel smooth, supported, and confident all night. No Spanx required. Just slip it on and know you look incredible without worrying about anything shifting or showing. These dresses do the work for you so you can focus on having fun.
Budget: Sparkly layered dress from Amazon—gorgeous and functional.
Splurge: Shapewear cocktail dress from Popilush—elevated sparkle with built-in support. |
|
| | The key to holiday dressing is finding something that makes you feel good. Whether that's covered and comfortable for the office or bold and sexy for your outings with friends (or dates), there's an outfit out there that fits your vibe and your budget. Happy holidays! |

| | | | The AI Prompts That Help Me Stress Less About Money |
|
| Finances can feel like a never-ending mental tab you're avoiding. You know you should review your budget, sort your subscriptions, and finally face that lingering credit card balance…but you also have work, life, and people texting you "quick question?" at 8 p.m.
That's why I've started using AI (specifically, ChatGPT) as a low-pressure, high-clarity financial planning tool. It's free. It's fast. And honestly? It's helped me get clearer on my money than any spreadsheet has.
I'm not using it to pick stocks or track crypto. I'm using it for the real, messy, everyday stuff: Why am I still feeling broke when I'm technically making more? Which expenses are quietly bleeding my account? What's the smartest way to tackle my debt without overhauling my life?
Step 1: See Where Your Money Is Actually Going
One of the first things I asked ChatGPT:
💬 "Can you help me break down my monthly recurring expenses?"
I listed out everything: rent, utilities, subscriptions, memberships, insurance, random software charges, and let it categorize them. It grouped expenses by "essentials," "nice-to-haves," and "cancel-or-consolidate."
It was eye-opening in a way that budgeting apps could never. I needed to see it laid out simply, with suggestions on what to cut or audit.
You can also try:
💬 "Can you help me create a monthly budget based on $X income, $Y rent, $Z discretionary spending?"
💬 "What are common areas where people overspend that I should double-check?"
Step 2: Create a Debt Payoff Plan That Doesn't Make You Panic
I had a few credit card balances floating around and felt stuck on where to start.
So I used this prompt:
💬 "Here are my credit card balances and interest rates. Can you create a payoff plan using both snowball and avalanche methods?"
ChatGPT gave me side-by-side breakdowns:
It even told me how much faster I could be debt-free if I put an extra $100/month toward it, and which method would save me more in the long run.
Bonus prompt:
💬 "If I put $X/month toward my debt, when would I be debt-free using the snowball method?"
Step 3: Use AI as a Financial Thinking Partner
What I love about this process is that I don't have to know exactly what I'm asking. I just describe the situation, and it helps me clarify the next steps.
For example: I asked it to help me build a savings plan for large annual expenses like car insurance and holiday travel. I used it to calculate how much I could save over 12 months by cutting one $20 subscription and switching grocery stores.
I even asked:
💬 "What are 3 ways I can improve my credit score in 90 days?"
And it gave me actionable tips I hadn't heard before.
You don't need to be a finance expert. You just need to be curious.
Why This Matters Now
December is the best time to get real about your money, not because "new year, new me" is calling, but because your future self needs a game plan that makes sense now.
The end of the year tends to be the time of reflection: what worked, what didn't, what you want more or less of. AI helps turn that reflection into a strategy you can actually act on without the drama of downloading five new apps or sitting through a two-hour webinar.
If you've ever felt like money stuff is too much—too messy, too confusing, too emotionally loaded—this is your permission to start small.
Try just one of the prompts above. Let the response guide your next step. Then try another.
What matters is momentum, not perfection.
Because getting clear with your money is about feeling less anxious, making smarter choices, and entering the new year knowing that you're not behind.
Let me know what you try. I'd genuinely love to hear what you discover. |
