Live updates: 75K Skagit County residents told to evacuate immediately

Everyone living in the Skagit County floodplain has now been asked to evacuate. Estimates have placed that number close to 75,000 people. Mount Vernon Fire Chief Bryan Harris didn't have an exact number, but said "a large portion of the population of Skagit County who live in the floodplain."

Gov. Bob Ferguson appeared on CNN on Wednesday evening. He mentioned the Skagit River is expected to crest around 4 a.m. Thursday at 46 feet. The previous record was 42 feet. "This is something no local resident has ever experienced or their ancestors who have been on the river for many years," he said, warning residents who live in the 100-year floodplain that haven't evacuated need to do so immediately.
