CDN's entire staff was swiftly repurposed this week to cover flooding in the backyards of Whatcom and Skagit counties, home of the Nooksack and Skagit rivers. We don't haul out that red "breaking news" bar at the top of our website for matters of marginal importance.

Most of our Bellingham-based journalists are knee deep in this coverage, filing dozens of updates for daily live briefings that have drawn large amounts of local views as the storm clouds gather and do their damage.

We'll stay on this story 24/7 as long as events warrant. It's not a pleasant task but we take extremely seriously the human toll that usually comes with it.
