Unsurprisingly, President Donald Trump's State of the Union had some fallout.
Amid all the pomp that came with inviting the U.S. men's hockey team and handing out numerous medals for military service, Trump engaged in a back-and-forth with Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).
When Trump urged members of Congress to stand when he said "the first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens," Tlaib and Omar responded by saying "You have killed Americans!"
They are not exactly wrong. Since Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection descended upon Minneapolis, an ICE official killed Renee Good last month and CBP officials killed Alex Pretti.
Inside Washington caught up with Ilhan Omar, where she said that it was important for her to push back amid Trump's rhetoric.
"And when he talked about protecting Americans and that being our number one job, I felt at that moment it was very important for me to remind him that he did actually kill two Americans that are my constituents, that are our neighbors," Omar said.
Not to be outdone, Trump lashed out at both Tlaib and Omar.
"When you watch Low IQ Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, as they screamed uncontrollably last night at the very elegant State of the Union, such an important and beautiful event, they had the bulging, bloodshot eyes of crazy people, LUNATICS, mentally deranged and sick who, frankly, look like they should be institutionalized," Trump said on Truth Social.
It may be a catharsis for Trump, but many Americans simply don't believe that Trump's immigration policies actually keep the country safe. His approval ratings on immigration and border security are now both underwater.
