Berenice Abbott was a pioneering American photographer best known for documenting the architecture and street life of New York City in the 1930s. After working in Paris with Man Ray, she returned to the United States and created the influential “Changing New York” series with support from the Works Progress Administration. Her photographs are widely exhibited in major museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, and are recognized as important works of twentieth-century documentary photography, contributing to the lasting value and collectability of her prints. We present seven of her works today from her Portraits in Platinum portfolio. Please consider collecting among these photographs. |
