| The curious return of the bushy moustache | |
| Hello and welcome back to Lessons in Lifestyle… The Oscars feel like many moons ago by now, but some Pedro Pascal fans are still reeling from his appearance at the Academy Awards – where he stepped out alarmingly clean-shaven and without his signature moustache. "Someone pick the shaved hairs [up from his sink] and glue it back again QUICK," one fan begged upon seeing his silky smooth appearance. "I can see regret all over his face," another claimed. They were mourning his lack of tache because Pascal's typical style – the full-throttle mouth-framer – has become the most adored masculine style symbol. Moustaches have been on the up for a while: the "dirtbag" tiny tache – sported by Jacob Elordi, Harry Styles and Timothée Chalamet – has been slowly coming back in recent years, particularly when paired with a mullet. And now Pascal and his peers, including Paul Mescal and a recently moustachioed Leonardo DiCaprio, are leading the charge for bringing back the full tache from a bygone era. This week, Lydia Spencer-Elliott explains why this symbol of masculinity has become so omnipresent in Hollywood. What to expect in today's newsletter: | |

Charlotte Cripps has uncovered the world of "Brotox" in this piece, and asks why male celebrities are all starting to look the same: more angular and chiselled, with more volume in the mid-face area and plump lips. Cripps writes that there is a new standard of male beauty, thanks to the so-called manosphere – and the "looksmaxxing" trend that entails maximising one's own physical attractiveness through usually aggressive and invasive surgeries. Read more here. Until next time! |
