A New Playing Field

So much has changed with sports leagues' such as the NCAA, MLB, NFL and UFC openly accepting cannabis in some way over the past year. These moves are hopefully a predecessor for mainstream acceptance of cannabis for recovery and wellness.

As cannabis research expands, so does its presence in the world of sports. Athletes across various disciplines are increasingly exploring cannabis for pain management and post-training recovery. This panel brings together former athletes to discuss the ways cannabis is reshaping athletic routines and supporting mental and physical resilience. From addressing chronic pain and inflammation to enhancing focus and sleep, our speakers will dive into how cannabinoids and terpenes are integrated into fitness regimens, as well as the latest science and regulations shaping the use of cannabis in sports. Additionally, panelists will discuss how sports leagues are creating avenues for cannabis licensing and sponsorships.

Greta Gaines

Co-founder & CEO, Love + Hemp Skincare

Greta is a former World Champion Extreme Snowboarder, TV Host (Oxygen and ESPN Outdoors), fly-fisherman and recording artist. Greta is also a Clinical Herbalist, Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor and an internationally recognized cannabis expert. Greta began formulating hemp skin care in 2011 and sold her first skin care company The Hempery, in 2014. Greta has been active in cannabis law reform for 14 years and has been dubbed by SKUNK Magazine as one of America's top 100 most important activists. Al Harrington

CEO and Co-founder, Viola

Al's entrepreneurial endeavors began during his NBA career when he strategically invested in startups across the cannabis industry. In 2011, he launched the Viola brand in Colorado after overseeing the carefully curated cultivation, extraction and production processes. Harrington has expanded Viola nationwide and in Canada from seed to sell, becoming the only Black-owned multinational cannabis brand. With the mission to educate, empower and uplift the Black community, Al advocates for a more equitable cannabis industry.

Eugene Monroe

The Head Coach (CEO), Collective 60

Collective 60 is a family of cannabis pioneers and entrepreneurs with shared values, drive and vision for the pinnacle of cannabis quality today. Eugene is a University of Virginia alumnus, a 2009 NFL First Round Draft Pick (pick 8), and the Co-Founder of Green Thumb Industries, one of the largest cannabis companies in the world. Eugene has a decade of experience as a cultivator, and has been a cannabis entrepreneur and legalization pioneer helping impact law across the East Coast and Midwest. Through this experience Eugene has realized cannabis companies from inception to profitability.

Ricky Williams

Founder, Highsman

Highsman is the culmination of years of education and exploration. Former NFL Running Back Ricky Williams studied the origins of cannabis in the foothills of the Himalayas and spent years learning about the healing properties of the plant. Most notably Ricky played with the Miami Dolphins for the span of seven seasons. He faced two suspensions during his tenure due to the NFL's strict marijuana policy. Ricky credits smoking herb as a way of coping with the challenges associated with being a professional athlete, from social anxiety to physical injuries. He created the Highsman brand in 2021 to help all people inspire greatness in themselves.
