The event is free to attend; just bring a chair, grab some refreshments and settle in for five silent films, each accompanied live by BSO musicians.
The weekend only gets warmer from today on out — so if you prefer to stay inside, know that "Chicago (Teen Edition)" is running at New Prospect Theatre this Saturday. The following evening is the August installment of "To Whom It May Concern," a monthly letter-writing show I participated in earlier this year. (You can read more about that experience here.)
Other indoor options include a burlesque show on Saturday at The Shakedown, plus a reading with author Gabriel Urza at Village Books the following day. And if you don't mind a little heat, "The Princess Bride" is playing as part of Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema on Saturday night.
Finally, Whatcom Humane Society's (aptly-titled) Dog Days of Summer is slated for this Sunday. This annual festival is among the cutest fundraisers in town — just remember to wear sunscreen and drink lots of water.
